I've stayed in many different hotels, mostly upmarket ones. Moonlight beach is without a doubt, the best budget accommadation I've experienced. Great location, ocean views, spacious apartment and the front desk service was fantastic. i'll definately stay there each time I'm in Encinitas.

Bring a sweater, it gets cool in the evenings.

the couch in 205 sinks way in, and the room smelled a little like mildew. the shower head just had a mist of water sprays out.BUT i would come back again every time i go to california, the help at the front desk was plesent, we loved how big the rooms were,very comfortable bed and a skip to the beach!!! thank you, that was our 2nd stay in 3 months,WE will come and stay again soon.....

I have been going here with my family for over 10 years. It is perfectly located for walking around Encinitas and is just 2-3 blocks from Moonlight Beach. We have nothing but good things to say about this place.

It's a handicap-equipped romm and was not as clean as romm #208 (ocean view). There was dirt/food left around the floor perimeter and the towels were not as nice as the other room's. When we lived in AZ, we stayed at Moonlight Beach Motel for many consecutive years. It couldn't have been more perfect, especially if you have a family because the price can't be beat and it's a block from the ocean. It's not the most modern accomodations, but what's life if there's no 'funk'? I would highly recommend it.
