Upon arriving in Coulterville we were so glad to have the 49s and 120 east behind us. 49 south was a scenic drive on the northern end, the last 60 miles brought memories of the movie "Deliverence" and 120 east traces of the movie "Nothing but trouble" starring Dan Ackroyd....The Hotel Jeffery was a welcome sight indeed...It was ...
We came in from Mobile, AL and Memphis, Tn to see California, or as much as we could in seven days. Hitting San Francisco on Saturday and going to Yosemite on Sunday, we stopped in this small town of Coulterville on the way out and on the way to Lake Tahoe. After a day of driving we decided to stop in Coulterville for a drink. What better place ...
The people and te food were fabulous. Plus the rooms had a very home feel to them. The owners and staff made the experience worthwhile. I loved the feeling of just being a ble to kick back and not think about the troubles I have. Even though the view from my room was not the best(overlooking the towns community park) Istill injoyed myself to the fullest.
We visited the hotel with a couple of friends. I really needed to get away, and that we did. No tv, no phones, no cell reception, no internet. My friends went nutz for the first day, then they too settled in nicely. I think that Peter & Cherylann's olde-fashioned sense of hospitality made it real easy. We all knew to bring bathrobes and ...
Some folks complained about the lack of bathrooms and elevators, but I think that the new owners have done a nice job in keeping with the historical integrity of the place. The rooms are clean and furnished with antiques and quilted blankets. The hallways still have that cool creaky sound to remind you of the age of the building as you wander to ...
I think the friendly atmosphere, the pure History of the Hotel and Bar, and most of all the Friends I have made, Peter and Cherylann are very Hospitable and a lot of fun.
The new owners are a couple, Cherylann and Peter. Cherylann takes great pride in making the guests feel welcome, and the saloon that Peter works at is supposedly the oldest saloon in all of California. They play great music and drinks are reasonably priced there. It's the main spot that people hang out at in Coulterville.
