it is a run down hotel now very shabby rooms, hotel smells everywhere. staff old and unhelpful. avoid completely. a lot of crowd in the lobby people from the city attending some function in their banquet room. reminded me of an airport lounge and not a luxury hotel

A Special hotel in Kolkata, which serves as the number one hotel in Kolkata. The restaurants are just classic. The location is excellent as it can be accessed easily. If any one wants to hear roar of tigers or elephants in the heart of a metropoliton city then it is the ideal place, as it is just opposite the zoo.

We stayed there for 4 days and were happy with the way the staff helped us and took care of us. The Indian restaurant was very good. The Ac was working all the while and we were nicely cocooned inside while it was blazing hot summer outside.

Taj Bengal is one of the big hotels in kolkata.Its 5 star hotel. This hotel is known as world wide.The service is excllent , but the hotel is very expensive.
But the customer care , manager staff is always ready for helping the people.

Excellent service. Check in and out was quick and efficient. The post cards I dropped off were posted and arrived at their destinations.
The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I like the dark wood in the entrance way. It gives the room a warm felling instead of the standard on color paint job found in a lot of hotel rooms.
