One last thing, make sure you play chess with the giant chess set by the pool, it's great.

We found our West facing room a bit warm in August for sleeping. The staff tried to accommodate. They immediately installed a new A/C unit in our room, unfortunately the temperature didn't improve.
We were given another room facing West. It was also uncomfortable.

The Palace at the Pyramids. Pretty much says it all. Locations don't come much better than this! The old or Palace wing is simply stunningly gorgeous, the food is marvelous, and the staff - like most Egyptians - are extremely friendly and helpful. And the quiet grounds are a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cairo.

Do NOT miss this! It is beyond fabulous and you can literally walk across the boulevard to the pyramids and the golf course (no kidding). If I get back to Egypt I wouldn't mind staying at the Mena House the whole time in Cairo!

Superb - have wanted to visit this hotel and its wonderful ancient neighbours for years. Finally got there in August 2003. Amazing.

Found the hotel excellent. The service was superb - attentive without being servile or 'hovering'. Really enjoyed the food, especially in the Indian Restaurant.

This hotel is NOT in the city center. It is in Giza near the Pyramids and was a former palace on it's own compound, complete with golf course. The pool is one of the most beautiful with breathtaking views of the pyramids and of the palace hotel. I only take rooms in the palace and ask for the ones with the views of the pyramids. There is ...
