  • Romantic haven with old-world charm
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/22/09
Located near the center of one of America's quaintest towns, Amherst, Massachusetts, The Allen House was a wonderful find: meticulously clean and comfortable, each room is uniquely and lovingly appointed with period art and decor. We instantly felt "at home" (though we could only wish to live in such a home). Recommended!

  • Cozy, comfy room, but.......
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/07
I should have paid attention to the reviews on this site! We did not have a good experience here either. Ditto what the others said, plus... When we arrived, the innkeeper greeted us in his bathrobe, claiming he was about to take a shower. Since we arrived early, I didn't give this a thought. We were shown to our room, which was lovely and ...

The house itself is in good repair; and the decor, while not my taste, is true to the period. The bathroom and linens appeared to be clean; however the housekeeping ended there. Our room was very ...

  • Where's the Breakfast at this "B & B?"
    By Paul, 04/29/06
We stayed there last summer--what a disappointment! The breakfast was not what they advertised (just fruit, frozen waffle and lukewarm coffee) and the owners were less than concerned about our needs. When we asked about a breakfast like the one advertised, we were told it was "out of season." Omelets--out of season? We paid about $150 for ...

  • overpriced and underwhelmed
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/05
Yes, it's a nice place and the period furnishings are lovely, but for $150/night I expected something special. I picked it as an anniversary destination based on their webpages, which turned out to be very misleading. The website says that they offer "the finest Swiss chocolates" but all we got were four Hersey's kisses. The ...
