The location was ewxcellent. It was within walking distance of the beach and seafood dining. It was not very clean, but the price would reflect that. We weren't expecting to have the Ritz Carlton at the price. We slept well and had our needs met.
We went over spring break so the rates were actually double what they should have been! We paid $169 for the Jacuzzi Suite which had tissue paper stuffed in the bathroom vent. There was a random hole in the ceiling. The hotel was clean as you could expect a hotel to be. The Breakfast consists of donuts, danishes, fruit loops and tang instead of real ...

It was just fine
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/07
The people at the desk were friendly and helpful; the room was adequate. I like a healthy (whole grain) breakfast, so I brought my own cereal and just used the bowls and milk from downstairs (My husband and kids were happy with donuts and "vacation cereal!") We enjoyed the pool when we came off the beach- which was a quick, easy walk from the hotel. Because we were there sort of off season (October), we often had the pool to ourselves.

A group of us (20) decided to spend the weekend at Tybee. We all wanted to be at the same hotel, so we chose the Dunes since they had enough empty rooms.. should have been the first clue...Upon entering our room late on Friday, I had to kill a huge roach on the wall. I called the front desk to ask for another room, was told these roaches are the ...

There are two sections (buildings) that make up this hotel. The "front building" is newer, cleaner and all around better. The "rear building" is older and prehaps not as well taken care of. However I would recommend this hotel, due to it's proxmity to the beach and helpfullness of the staff.

We were on an impromptu trip to Savannah, and I was told by a local that Tybee Island had a nice beach. We found an ad for the Dunes in a discount hotel booklet, and I called to check on room availability late on Thursday evening for a same night stay. The lady was pleasant on the phone, and offered me two rooms. I asked if they were nice, and ...

I had already booked our reservation and then started reading the reviews and was so panicky after reading some of the comments. We arrived to find a staff that was friendly and very helpful. When we got to our room and opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised to find everything new and clean. The room was lovely, new carpet, spreads, ...
We stay at the Dunes every year in November and the staff is always excellent. We get the same room every year just by requesting it when we make our reservations. We've stayed at other places on the island but since finding the Dunes(after horrible experiences at other places) we wouldn't go any place else.
