We all liked the remoteness and serenity of the place. There is nothing that we didn't like about the place. The food and the way it's served is superb. It's been 4 or 5 years since we took the mule ride into the canyon and it was one of the greatest experiences of our lives. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night at the ranch instead of two. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Hi All,
Just to let folks know, the photo on the Phantom Ranch page is of El Tovar, not the Ranch. El Tovar is a fabulous historic hotel at the TOP of the Grand Canyon on the South Rim. It is fantastic, but don't think you will see it at the bottom of the canyon! I am hoping to stay at Phantom Ranch in Fall of 08, but was at El Tovar in ...

Have to go again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
What an amazing place! I went in July on a cancellation so it was really hot, but the ice cold lemonaid and all the other food was great. Don't rush the trip back, just a steady pace. I will be 60 this year and this was the best trip that I have ever done. Tip: comfortable shoes, mole skin, and lots of water.
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Been there two times
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/07
I so enjoyed the trip across the Grand Canyon from the North Rim to the South Rim I've done it twice so far. The Last time was with my girl friends from school we were celebrating our 30 years of graduating from High School. We enjoyed the showers, the food and talking with all the visitors down in the Canyon. It was one of the greatest trips we've taken together. Would love to do it again.
I worked at the Grand Canyon for 2 years, and the highlight of my time at the canyon was when I hiked to Phantom! A group of us hiked down on Valentines day. Beautiful place, great staff, and of course, you cant beat the scenery! The fact that they have such wonderful food, running water, and provide you with linnens is just great. Beds are ...

Just stayed at the Campground
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/07/07
We just stayed at the nearby campground at the bottom. I thought this was an excellent experience. I worked at the Grand Canyon one summer and the funniest question I got was "Can you DRIVE to Phantom Ranch". Phantom is at the bottom of the Canyon....you cannot drive to to the bottom of the Grand Canyon! If you do go visit though, hiking ...

One of the most beautiful places
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/21/06
Phantom ranch is beautiful. When your down there your with people who want to be there. It's an amazing community. You feel pride for having made the somewhat difficult trek down from the top. I've done it twice and both times it has left me feeling re energized and happy. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a little adventure in their life.
It was great. Its in the canyon. But it is small. But definenly worth it. There are no pools but the colorado river is eve better. This is a great spot to take your camera.

I'll Be Back at Phantom Ranch!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/31/06
Our entire trip was a fantastic journey. We are six hiking women who range in age from 43 to 51 years. We hiked down South Kaibab trail to Phantom Ranch and spent the night in one of the women's dorms. We arrived at 4:15 pm after hiking about 4.5 hours (lots of stops for pictures). The dorm is really a large cabin with five comfortable bunk ...
