honestly there isnt much to see as far as a waterfall goes. you can park and walk on the stone arch bridge to see them. take a tour of the locks - thats more interesting.

Is your interest nature or history?
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 07/23/07
Definitely not for someone who enjoys the typical setting of waterfalls (nature). It is more for someone who likes to learn about the history of Minneapolis. Other points of interest right next to the falls include Mill Ruins Park and Stone Arch Bridge. Mill City Museum and Guthrie Theater are within minutes walking distance away.
To appreciate St. Anthony Falls, you should visit the lock facilities run by the Army Corps of Engineer. It's a free 50 minute tour and you get the closest view of the falls possible. The guide told us that the falls have the highest flow in the spring when the snow melt is providing plenty of water. Since I was there in August, I saw them ...

This is no Niagara...
By chua_herbert, 05/11/06
The Falls is best viewed from the pedestrian-only Stone Arch Bridge. But don't expect the power and depth of the Niagara Falls. This is merely a mini falls over the Mississippi River. Honestly, I am more fascinated with the lock system next to the Falls, which is how ships/boats traverse the differing elevation of the river.

Nice intro to Minneapolis
By A Yahoo! Contributer, 03/30/06
Overall, a pleasant 2 hr walk with views of the falls, river, locks, and the city skyline. Our kids, ages 8, 6, and 3, generally enjoyed it. For the cost of parking, it was well worth it.
My family moved to the Twin Cities area a short time ago, and we walked a loop around the falls and Hennepin Bridge (2-3 miles total). The falls are fairly ...

Enjoy a walk along the falls
By faithrocha, 09/26/05
Set in a historic district we like to take a walk along the falls or even take a horse and buggy ride throught this historic area. I recommend it for a romantic evening. Even thought you're in a big city the area has a small town feel. Enjoy!

No big wow factor, but take family anyway
By mntndo@sbcglobal.net, 08/15/05
If you just need a nice break from a hectic schedule this is a nice place to go as any kids will love it here and as long as you keep expectations low, it's still fun to go see a waterfall. Good location makes it easy to get to. Ford dam nearby. Overall a great outdoor excursion right in the city.
