Calhoun offers many playgrounds, beaches, bike and walking paths, boating oppertunities, and much more! It is a great place for people of all ages to go to! They offer these great deals where you can rent a canoe for an entire day and use it to go through all of the chain of lakes! They recently built a great playground that I go to with my two ...

The lake seems to be the centerpiece of the Uptown District of Minneapolis. It's a fairly decently-sized lake, mostly popular for it's 3.1 mile biking and running paths around it that also extend to other areas of Minneapolis. There's a pier selling food and drink if you want a good view of things while you take a rest. Not many ...

Too many cars, too many people, not the best lake in the city.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/08
Lake Calhoun has a reputation as a "place to be" but if you've explored the other lakes, particularly Harriet and Nokomis, you'd see that Calhoun does not have any better senery, or paths, but is a LOT more crowded and noisy. It seems like the place that people think they need to go in the summer if they are new to the city ...

Great for everything but swimming
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/18/07
This lake has great walking/biking paths winding in and out of the trees, and connecting multiple lakes, playgrounds for the kids, scores of people, beaches, volley ball courts, docks, and a pavillion that sells basic goodies during the day. Great for running, biking, sailing, playing with the kids.
We loved it here! I cannot wait to go back and spend even more time here.We rented a peddle boat and spent an hour out on the lake relaxing and cruising. Then we rented a tandem bike and pedaled our way all around the lake. It was all great fun for us who are in our 50's. Also would like to add that the food at the Tin Fish was excellent and we definitely will return again. Thank-you Lake Calhoun for giving us a wonderful experience!
Minneapolis, MN is outlined with plenty of lakes. In the summer time these wonderful lakes have various things to do. They are filled with sail boats, people walking the various trails or just sitting and enjoying the attmosphere. I have been on various vacations but Minneapolis was by far the best of them all.

Best Place in Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/06
Lake Calhoun is awesome. Nice views, nice trails, and nice crowd. It is also connected to Lake Harriet (South) and Lake of the Isles (North). Great for active people and those who want to just sit on one of the many park benches and see the splendor of downtown Minneapolis as the sun goes down. For those who know the area you can walk from DT to the Lake. Public transportation is nearby and its not difficult to find parking either. Come on over.
This place is great for walking, running, riding a bike, rollerblading because of its paved paths and great people watching. There are playgrounds for kids, sandy beaches, places to canoe or sail (or learn how). There is a small cafe there for snacks or refreshments and there are always people around. Its location in Uptown is great because you ...
