The Minneapolis Institute of Art is like a good buffet. You want to keep going back for the things you missed the first time through. And you don't realize how hungry you were until you leave. They truely have a wonderful atmosphere in which to enjoy a great diversity of art. You can tour alone or by group, check out paintings, sculpture, ...

Excellent museum!

If you want cheap amusement, much of the museum is open to the public at no charge. The cost to see featured exhibits is reasonable, and the quality is always high.

How can you miss this place!?!?!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/05
One of the best collectoin in the state. It is soothing, educational and romantic. You can park on the street or parking right next to the musium.
I love art museums just in general, so this place is an easy sell for me. However, the MIA also has a great selection and is very affordable, so it's completely worth your while. Check it out along with the other art museums in the Twin Cities, like the Walker, for an incredible range of art.

only without kids
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/14/05
this was a good spot to visit, but not really good for families with l'il ones. you'll want to be ALONE or with adult company. the staff were not the most receptive to kids, either. the pieces were interesting, though.

Great fun

Good art. Good docents. Kid friendly. Free. Ford Family Sundays are a great experience. Well laid out. Good gift shop. Great food at the little restaurant on site. Parking easy.
The recent exhibition of the first totally new Bible printed in the last five hundred years which was commisioned by St. John's University at St. Cloud, Minnesota and is still being hand illuminated and worked on in Wales at a scriptorium is the most beautiful ehibit that I have seen in any of the major museums around the world. When it is completed it will be displayed at the University Library and is a MUST SEE.
