They don't seem to understand that they're running a ski area. The lifts (with the exception of one, maybe two) are old and slow. There's lots of nice, new, very expensive, condos around. Including some that have eliminated two large parking lots, so parking is a nightmare. I had been to Purgatory in the mid 90's and it was ...

Great ski experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/07
We just spent several days at Cascade Village at Durango Mountain Resort and it was great. The staff at Cascade was really nice and the on-site ski rental was very convenient. Our two bedroom condo was big and beautiful (more than we expected) and the price was reasonable.
The skiing at DMR (Purgatory) was excellent, with virtually no lines for ...

Disapponting

We were there in May. And no one else, not even maintenance, apparently. TV did not work, shower door almost impossible to open. Bed lowers from wall into kitchen - putting my head next to the fridge. Hot tub closed for maintenance. Awakened on Monday morning by the sound of jack hammers outside.

Durango is so much fun that my family moved there (like we had no choice)~ Anyway, Purgatory (DMR) is so much fun...
Durango is so fun but to all the tourists who come (i'm not since i'm a local) DO NOT i repeat DO NOT call Durango Mountain Resort "Durango Mountain Resort" or "DMR", it bugs the locals like me SO VERY MUCH! Call it "PURGATORY"- it's true name. And speaking of Purgatory, it is so much fun if you know what ...

Our room had a small kitchenette which helped with food expenses, and it was very cozy with a fireplace and mountain view. Driving down the mountain to ...

DMR -- Great Views and More
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/02/05
Durango Mountain Resort is overall a terrific place to spend a day or two on the snow. The scenery is out of this world, the mountain is good and most of the staff (at the actual resort rather than lodging types) are most helpful and very accomodating. When I couldn't get my bindings to work correctly one nice staff member named Wade came over ...

Skiing/Snowboarding in purgatory
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/01/04
Durango Mountain Resort, aka Puragtory is an exelent place to go skiing. Although I havent been to many skiing resorts, I keep comming back to this one. After a great day of skiing or snowbaording on the resorts many lifts you can relax in one of the hot springs close to town. Durango is a great little town, in both the winter and the summer. ...
