I have been going to Mustang Island since I was 6 years old...I am 60! The Seaweed is seasonal...the abundance of shells (or lack there of) is also seasonal. My son stayed at Mustang Island State Park about 10 years ago and did not enjoy...camping in sand is not easy...not to mention wind/weather. We used to stay in the Rockport/Fulton Beach ...
If you are looking for a resort type of beach this is not for you. The beach was not cleaned of seaweed or whatever else the waves brought in . But with the seaweed, you got the birds and the animals that feed on it, crabs running around in the evenings, sea shells washing up, etc.. If you like the natural aspect this is a great place to sit ...
We had an awesome time walking the beach. We feed the birds and collected sea shells.

Mustang Island State Park, don't waste your money!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/28/08
My husband and I moved to Corpus 6 months ago and are appalled at what we've found. The beaches here are filthy and disgusting. There's litter everywhere and the seaweed is horrendous. Never in my life would I have thought that just to spend a day at the beach I'd need to take a rake with me. We made the mistake of assuming that ...

My husband and I have visited this park for the past 20 years however this was our last visit here. The beach was awful. The dunes are taken over the picinic area, you cannot sit on the beach and look out across the area. The bathroom has been literally decayed which was taped up with yellow police tape and the porta potties were gross and not ...

Grieved and Shocked
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/22/08
I first started going to Mustang Island State Park about fifteen years ago. At the time, my husband and I had just moved to Corpus Christi and went nearly every day after work. The buildings were in good repair, and the beach was groomed if needed. If the seaweed stacked up, someone was out there with heavy equipment, scooping it up and moving ...

I live in C.C. and I love my town but I have to say that I think most of these reviews were writen by people that work for the city. I've been going to our beaches for 30+ years and I love it. But they are nothing like they make them out to be in these reviews. (unless you show up the day after beach clean up, done by volunteers.)
