We had read grand descriptions of the hotel, boasting all its supposed amenities and room facilities and design. On arrival, we were met by reception staff who admitted to "not knowing what he was doin",and he tried to charge over 4 times the rate at which was confirmed during online booking. He asked another member of staff to help, and ...

Was very happy with the location of the hotel. We were able to shop and put bags back to hotel anytime. Plenty of eating places close by. Our room was very big and very clean. Corridors could do with a makeover, but not that important.

Edwardian Hotel - Edward the 2nd
By Suzanne A, 05/02/07
Same as other reviews - not clean, sheets didn't fit beds, shower cracked and sprayed all over 12 foot high bathroom, only air exchange was through a window vent that opened into the top of depot. NO AC at all, plus no cross ventilation, except if you left room door open. 1st room windows were painted shut, so changed rooms. 2nd room was small with 20ft? ceiling, windows opened ...

This hotel is built on top of Central Station and in the centre of town – perfect location.
The size of the rooms (Victorian – 12 ft high ceilings etc) and bathroom especially were impressive – that’s where it stops! The former grandness of the hotel and the central stairway is in contrast to the way this place has been left to decline. I reckon ...
