ElegantThough my room, in the old building, was a bit small, it was exquisitely furnished and the bathroom, with all its marble, was elegant.

Colonial style, 5 star hotelYou'd have to try very hard to find a better place to stay in Rio
Great food, great service, spectacular views, this is where Princess Diana and Prince Charles used to stay, Pres Clinton, Mick Jagger, you name it
It is expensive, but worth

Past glamour in a declining placeAlthough the hotel's style is outdated and refers to the glamour pre-WW II palaces, it surely has wealthy charm, nice smiling service and an acceptable value-for-money ratio when you like luxury and have chosen to stay in Rio at Copacabana beach. Maybe best hotel I've ever stayed inStart with a magnificent location on the beach at Copacabana. Hotel gracefully combines the best of a modern hotel with a 1920s vintage "grande dame." Ah RioNice pool, large nice rooms, good food. As with other hotels along Copacabana walking outside at night can be an experience. Not for the faint of heart.

Best hotel in S. AmericaThe single down side to this hotel is the price. If you can afford it, then this is the only place you should consider staying in Rio. The staff was friendly and helpfull at all times.
