This place is incredible! Feels more like a small bed & breakfast than a 72-room inn! Each room is beautifully AND differently decorated with high quality furnishings. A very refreshing break from a "see one room, you'll seen them all" world of most places. And they have a pool, hot tub, exercise room and a great breakfast!! ...
Very clean place to stay. Friendly staff. At a good location. It is the closest hotel to the beach. Very impressed considering it is not a chain hotel.

won't return. not handicap friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/19/07
originally I was on 2nd floor but due to leg injury they put us in handicapped room the room was pleasant the location bad. I had to go into a double steel doot to get to a lobby then go to the back of the hotel out side and then into the room. I had to carry all luggage and cooler about 80 ft from closest parking not handicapt friendly. I was told ...
Refuge has an unbeatable location for proximity to Assateague Island. It's clean and has the standard free breakfast buffet - waffles, toast, english muffins, fruit salad, cereal, etc.
Bring your beach umbrella (for shade) and beach chairs or rent for $18/day per couple. Also, bring your bikes. The island is very bicycle friendly and easy to ...

Bring Kids

I have fond memories of (long) past stays at the Refuge, which were always in the company of adults and always out of season. This visit brought me face-to-face with the new McD's next door and ear-to-ear with the multitude of rugrats. The walls have always been rather thin at T.R., the better to hear the popular sport of bowl the kiddies ...

Pony Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/07
This is a lovely Hotel that sits off the main road and the closest to the state park. I loved the pool and hot tub. They also have their own Chincoteague Ponys you can pet & feed.
What a lovely Motel, feels more like a friendly bed and breakfast, the rooms are immaculate and like something out of country living, decor and furnishings are beautiful. The staff were more than helpful and very friendly. Great free breakfast, and facilities, even have bike hire available. Situated in an idel place, close walk to everything, but very peaceful in the evening..Hope to go back sometime!

Stayed at the Refuge Inn this past weekend based mostly on the reviews from this site. Everything said here is absolutely true. However a few things were left out that prevents me from saying this is an 'Excellent' place to stay. Close.
Room's are great. Very clean. The rooms are also not furnished as typical hotel rooms might ...

Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/02/07
My girfriend and I were just looking for a weekend getaway and the Refuge turned out to be well suited for that....somewhat quait....spacious room...bike rentals turned out to be a favorite for touring both Chnicoteague and Assoteague....some great little shops downtown ....better dining would have been a real plus. Planning a trip back this summer. ENJOY !
