Our weekend stay at Virginia Beach was made most pleasant by our stay at The Cavalier Hotel - Beachfront. The benefits of the Cavalier: a private beach but walking distance (a block or so) to the boardwalk, oceanfront room balcony, decent breakfast buffet on-site, convenient outdoor pool next to the beach, remarkably good live band played while we ...
Read this whole review for a complete opinion of every aspect of staying here. We (myself, mom and dad) chose the Historic Cavalier Hotel on the Hill. We thought we'd give it a try. After reading the reviews below, I can't help but wonder what hotel these people really stayed at.
Check in was smooth, quick, and everything was correct. ...
We stayed here 3 years ago and enjoyed it. We wanted the same room this time and were told in January for an August stay that it was not available for the first night but was for the next 3. We said fine - we will move after one night. When we tried to do this we were told the room was not available and there was nothing they could do. We found ...

I got the impression that this place was on the way down. Chilly first impressions from the staff, unhelpful staff. reservations person rude. No one voluteered information that might be helpful to us as visitors. Moldy basket with amenities, broken tile, no show curtain liner, no movies on demand, no butter or jam with breakfast buffet. On the ...
Do not be deceived by the pretty pictures of this hotel on this website. Most of the gorgeous blue walls are in the Cavalier on the HILL, which is behind the Cavalier on the oceanfront. The original Cavalier (the one on the hill) is so much nicer than the oceanfront. Although you have to walk across the street to the beach, the experience is ...

Better to stay at the KOA in a tent

Oceanfront building* In the room, peeling wall paper, old broke-down bed that smelled like sweaty parts, tiny balconies, funky bathroom (both knobs for the shower showed cold, tub cruddy, toilet slow to drain "double flush time"), entrance door had to be double checked to make sure it closed and locked, tv was ancient and tiny, sliding ...
First let me start off by saying that this weekend was a getaway from the kids weekend. The greeter at the front desk was very nice and very helpful. As soon as we got there it only took about 3 to 5 minutes to get checked in. The hotel was very clean but the beds in the rooms are VERY small. My room had 2 full size beds in them. We had to sleep in ...

This place is a dump!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/07
The restaurant is horrendous. Staff insensitive and rude. Rooms are small, and the beds are not very comfortable.
Couldn't handle a crowded weekend. Not enough onsite parking, and good luck finding a valet.
I would never go back.

Lovely hotel.

We visited Cavailer on the Hill last weekend. The hotel reminds me of long ago. It is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to go back. There is only one down side to the hotel. The restaurant personnel was horrible. We went in the dining room for breakfast. I wanted a menu and did not want the buffet. The waiter told me that it would take ...
The Cavalier is located on the extreme north end of Atlantic Avenue, so if you want to stay in the middle of the action then this isn't the place. If you don't mind a little walk or a cheap ride on the trolley then it is not so bad. The good side to this is that the beach on this end of the strip is considerably less crowded compared to ...
