Just walking in takes your breath away!! My husband and I rate this hotel as our favorite. The customer appreciation is just amazing. The outdoor pool has a nice swim up bar and the waterfall was very romantic.

San Luis was a Great Break
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/07
We enjoyed a great stay at the San Luis Resort over Spring Break. Walking onto the resort property pool and landscaping we knew we had chosen the right place. The hotel staff greeted us immediately. Check-in was smooth, and we had the option of choosing a lower floor room for a couple hour early check-in, but decided to wait for the reserved ...

One of our favorites in the USA
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/07
Don't listen to the naysayers - I can't even imagine that they stayed at the San Luis! We're real picky and the San Luis has been one of our favorite resorts for more than 10 years. We've probably stayed there 60 -70 nights over that time and have NEVER seen bad service or mildew(!)or rust or tree trimming at 7am. In fact ...
Clean, safe, comfortable. A world-class resort on the beach! It will instantly remind you of France's Hotel Carlton...but at a fraction of the cost! Great for families and business alike. Very posh!

Great view but needs updates
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/07
Likes- The entire staff is friendly and beyond professional. The room's views which face the ocean are spectacular.
Dislikes- the price and interior decor of the rooms. I chose this hotel with hopes the rooms would be as glamorous as their views. The room's decor is sadly dated and very worn. I normally don't mind paying higher ...

What a dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
Made a reservation for San Luis and they booked us in the condominiums without telling us. Room was circa 1970 with mirrored glass walls and sweet pastel colors for $399/night. Worst room i have ever seen - peeling tile, half of the vertical blinds missing. Ordered room service they took to wrong room where it sat for 15 minutes then reheated ...

Memorial Day Disaster
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/07
Very poor experience overall. They still have some of the best food, however, the hotel has turned into something of a drunken pool party, certainly not what it was when we used to come here 6 years or so ago.
Unless you like endless Jimmy Buffet style music played live and very, very loudly with throngs of drunken people standing in the pool ...

Wake Up Call
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/07
Great location...great gulf views...great pool/waterfall! Short walking distance to great seafood restaurant. Palm tree trimming in mid-afternoon and early morning (7:00AM) was NOT conducive to R & R. Very cooperative w/ early check in and late check out...esp. after the "early morning tree trimming/wake up call"!

Wonder View
By gtdouglas3, 04/26/07
The San Luis Resort is a beautiful property and the view from our room was awesome. We were there pre-cruise and wedding and felt a bit disappointed by the rooms. We paid $240 a night and felt the room was nothing special, except for the view. The room was clean and well kept, just not $240 a night special. The ladies in the Spa/Salon were ...

Christmas Cheer
By Terie Beasley, 03/12/07
My husband and I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at the San Luis in Galveston. Even though his health was declining, the experience brought cheer into our lives. He was in a wheelchair and everyone gave us superb service and accomodated our special needs. I hardly had to lift a hand.
We enjoyed eating the Christmas brunch. In the ...
