    My expectations fell short upon entering the room. It was not very clean. There was something brown on the wall in the bathroom above the toilet paper holder not a place to put your soap in the shower, one outlet for your dryer, Huge old school tv, old alarm clock, the glass was not clean on top of the end tables,.I have stayed in Holiday Inns ...

    The Adolphus simply does not compare with hotels such as the St. Regis in Houston. There was no one to open the door for us and help with baggage when we arrived. The man who checked us in was snippy, rather than gracious. This same person acted entirely put out when I was locked out my room and my card didn't work, and very disagreeably asked, ...

    I was excited about the prospects of staying at this "supposed" 5 star hotel. Reality set in when I entered my room. It was large and roomy but this was due to the sparse furnishings.   • you pay for everything

    It was luxurious but you are charged for extra things like in-room coffee. The lights were not all working. But we got a good price so I can't complain.

    The light above the desk was out, the light in the vanity mirror was out, there was about 1/4 inch of dust on the sconces in the bathroom, and there was minibar food left on the end table in the sitting area of our room.

    The Adolphus is unequaled in its history, romance and elegance. The rooms and bathrooms are exquisitely appointed. Room service is fit for royalty, as is the impeccable service. Dinner in the French room is an evening of delight and well worth the price of the package. The Adolphus is not just a hotel, it is an experience, a destination in itself, a unique moment in time.
