The hotel has just completed a 'reddo'. New beds, furniture in rooms and lobby, and new carpets. I looked at other reviews and think this new hotel condition needs to be mentioned.
I will stay at the Residence Inn again.

Service, cleanliness and great breakfasts make this hotel a great stay at a very good rate. I highly recommend it and have already stayed here twice.

The Residence Inn Memphis East has the Marriott name on it, but should not. The hotel was unkempt and needed to be renovated about 8 years ago. The room furniture was so stained, dirty and tattered that we would be ashamed to donate it to charity. One bed in our suite was comfortable but the other had a visible sag to the middle.
