I stayed here while working an out of state IT assistance issue with a company based in Memphis.
Don't get me wrong, this hotel is very nice- but when I was there, it was undergoing major renovations and some areas were really in basic need of some work.
Do NOT worry about the staff, they are VERY helpful & will assist you with any ...
We were forced to evacuate for Hurricane Gustav. Our first hotel, which we stayed for 6 days, was not top of the line, but nice. When we found out we were approved for FEMA, we had to go to a hotel that FEMA would pay for. Because Hurrican IKE was on the tail of GUSTAV, our choices were VERY limited. MEMPHIS PLAZA had room for us for another week ...
THE SERVICES WAS GOOD, MONEY WILL SPENT, HOWEVER UPGRADES ARE NEEDED N THE DRIVE WAS A LITTLE BUT WHEN YOUR RUNNING FROM AN HURRICANE DISTANCE DOESNT MATTER.

Great deal!

The service was wonderful and the staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was very comfortable and the location was perfect for restuarants and shopping. You could tell the hotel was old, but just like people, we still keep them around and go see them. I will be visiting there again.
Don't expect to be catered to or things to look new... but for the money, it was great. I am sure at some point this was a real swanky hotel and now the important things are being maintained. The staff was courteous and available and there was an onsite bar that seemed to have customers all of the time. The pool area was great.. pool was cool ...

Served its purpose

The hotel is in need of major repairs. In one room the sheets were stained when we entered the room. There is no Wi-Fi internet in every room. There is a lounge where you can get internet from a laptop computer. The bathtub's paint was chipping, but was covered by a mat. The pool area did not look appealing to me.
The room served its purpose, I received restful sleep.

England to Memphis for a week
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/07
Stayed here for a week visiting from England. Didn't realise it was so far from everything and since my husband has a powered wheelchair and there were no accessible taxi-cabs, this would have been a huge problem had it not been for the most wonderful taxi driver who turned up at the airport, helped me lift my hubby and the chair into his van ...

They advertise Wi-Fi. You have to sit in a common area and share your table with the rest of the hotel guests, that is if you can get a table. The hotel is not very clean and the area is not the best. Signs everywhere tell you to be sure to lock up your cars and hide anything valuable. I think they have had a lot of break-ins. All of the ...

Don't go if you are a business traveler
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/06
Booked on Orbitz, hotel didn't have my reservation anywhere when I got to the (bulletproof glass-enclosed) night desk. Hotel claimed to have WI-FI on their Orbitz listing, but it wasn't true. Cancelled at 12:15 AM----LOTS of hotels in this area----Business travelers, stay somewhere else.
