Worst place ever, scammed

Do not stay here. It is overpriced and they will charge you card after you leave for "excessive cleaning" fees. I was charged $150 extra for my room and they only had to clean beer bottles off the table. My friend was charged the same and he left nothing in the room. I have never had a worse hotel experience in my life. STAY AWAY.

No hot water

I didn't have any hot water in my room. After I complained I was told by management that since the hotel is old, the water has to run 10 to 20 mins before hot water will reach the room!

There was also a terrible smell coming from the shower drain, no one came to the room to investigate, I was told to run the bathroom fan to try and remove the smell.

DELICIOUS!!

My husband and I had the Surf N' Turf special (6oz. lobster tail and a 6oz. filet mignon) with the vegetable of the day (zucchini and yellow squash) and it was delicious! The steak was what really stole the show. Tender, juicy and full of savory flavor...Island House is our new favorite.

Horrible,Disappointing

Terrible service,food was undercooked and cold.
Had company for a week and remember how we enjoyed it a couple of years ago,drove almost 2 hours with intentions of spending night there. We didn't. Everything looked dirty.Very disappointed in how things changed,not for the better. Will not come again.

We Love this Old Hotel

We have been to this hotel many times. This is a lovely old hotel but it has been in bankruptcy for the last couple years. Recently it has been purchased from the bank and hopefully it will be reopened for this coming summer season. We wish them the best of luck and hope to go there again this summer. Under proper management this is a great place to go.

Never Again

Went on a one day bus tour a couple years ago and saw a terrific cabaret group so I went back for a weekend mystery.

The show was terrible. Went into the restaurant after the show and was told it was closing RUDELY and asked to see the manager. Turns out it WAS the manager!

I drive back & forth from the southeast to northwest lower Michigan. This is a very welcoming, family-owned place. The restaurant is good, & the old bar is beautiful. Lots of atmosphere. My room was nice. They allow well-behaved pets.

I absolutely loved this weekend. Room was beautiful and comfortable..very clean..service was excellent. Close to everything..within walking distance & lots to do. I will go there as often as I possible can.

Great Place To Stay!

We stayed at the Island House on 7/26 and loved it. Very unique - very reasonable. Complementary continental breakfast, afternoon tea, and wine tasting are offered. The rooms were clean and full of character. We would very much like to go back for one of their Murder Mystery weekends - a perfect setting for it - a 120-year-old hotel! We definitely will be back and highly recommend.
