Generally my stays are good, but I have a had a few negative experiances with service. The elegance and history of the hotel are just so amazing that my few negative experiances haven't scared me away, but I do think the Hiltons should sell the Waldorf to better managed hotel chain.

My husband and I booked a suite in June of 04 for our first time in NYC. The hotel was very nice but I would have preferred something in a busier area. The room we had was not that great at all. That was the biggest shocker.

We spent this past New Years weekend here. Be prepared to bring plenty of $$$$. We came as a guest, however I am not sure if this would be my first choice if we return to Manhattan in the future.....$450+ for room service (dinner for 4 adults...a bit pricey but I guess that you are paying for tradition and ambiance.) It's like take it or leave it at this "hip" hotel where VIP stays. Staff seems to have this attitude that they are above the rest of the little guys. Unless you're a celebrity or president, or prime minister stay away from this hotel. You can DEFINITELY find a better valued hotel in the city that never sleeps.

we stayed oct 03, we did not stay in our room very much we were off, but it was great to be able to come back and catch a breath between trips out and around,,,we thought it to be a wonderful experience..the hotel was beautiful and the room was as well,, fyi just need closer ice machines,,,

for the price you should not have to pay for the fitness center and you should not have holes left over from renovation in the floors or wall paper stripping away in the halls.

I am in full agreement with guest ID 4. The lobby is beautiful, the restaurants are wonderful as well as the service. However, our room was much smaller than expected.
