Enjoyed all the Marriot had to offer and was surprised that Detroit isn't as scary as we all have heard. The staff at the Ren Cen was very helpful and friendly. The food was good and Greektown is awesome! Too bad the Tigers are only batting about .500 this year.

beautiful hotel at canadian border
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/05
great place in detroit to stay. staff was courtious, friendly and polite. I really liked this hotel because it's only 5 min. drive to canada. easy to visit two countries in one trip.
The Detroit Renaissance Center is an extraordinary place to go because it is such a tall, beautifully architectured building. The views are gorgeous, especially when you sit in the revolving restaurant.
This is a romantic place for couples to come to, perhaps the night of their wedding before they fly off to Hawaii...

Great Hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/05
The view, the view, the view!!! The room was very clean and comfortable, the service generally good. The hotel is right on the people mover route, so it's convenient to everything downtown. But the view of the river, Belle Isle and Windsor is breathtaking, especially at night!
The hotel is, by far, the best in Detroit. In terms of price, you might find better values, but for sheer class and service, this tops them all in the city.
As a Detroiter, I would recommend this hotel to anyone because of the great views of the only U.S. city north of Canada.

Rude non-existant customer service

I stayed at the Marriot because I was attending a conference that was held there. I made my reservations by phone and was quoted a rate of $170 per night - conference rate. When it came time to check out I was charged $220 per night, their regular rate. I tried to get the quoted rate, but they wouldn't budge. What pissed me off was that the ...
