  • AHHHH Awesome!
    By Laurie, 09/06/08
First inpression was ~Very cozy with lots of character ~ We stayed at the Tiki for 4 nights. Absolutely loved it. We were on the ground floor and could open our door to the yard with the ocean right there. The warm and helpful couple running the Tiki at this time shared how they have been quest for years and now rotate with other coulples to ensure ...

  • Been there at least 8 times
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/03/07
The Kona Tiki is old Hawaii. A small 13 room, 3 story cinderblock hotel built in the '50's. Each room is right on the ocean, you can lie on your first floor bed and watch the surfers when the waves are high. There are no phones, a/c or TV, not even a computer at the front desk. Cash only. Big continental breakfast included in price, and ...

  • family priced!
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/07
The Kona Tiki was a great value for my family. I was happy to not have television in the room. The pool is great with the mixture of salt and pool water. The dolphins were in sight as we swam in the pool.

The staff had our children light the tiki torches and blow the conch shell at sunset.

The breakfast a good, abeit a little too light for ...

  • like being in the 50's
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/07
The Kona Tiki is a great value. The rooms are small but clean. Half of them face the ocean but you'll hear it no matter where your room is located. The hotel is a 50's style cinder block building; we're not talking fancy here. But the swimming pool is literally next to the ocean, seperated by a retaining wall; ocean salt-water sprays ...

  • Will be back again
    By Jon, 06/28/07
Love the location, the sound of the crashing waves, the pool, the great breakfasts, and that it's a small hotel. We were here in May 2006 also and plan to go back in a couple of years.

  • Kona Tiki Again
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/08/06
This was our third stay at the Kona Tiki and we highly recommend it if you understand that there is no A/C, no phones in the rooms, the rooms are fairly small and there is no TV.

There are only 12 rooms, the place is right on the ocean and the ocean spray often goes into the pool. Every morning the guest gather for a light breakfast of fruits, ...

  • Back to the Kona Tiki?
    By Miranda, 05/14/06
This Spring 2006 was our fourth annual stay at the Kona Tiki, and our least satisfying mainly because of a new management team in place. Our reservation had been changed without our knowledge, placing us in a ground floor room rather than our previously reserved second floor one. We were able to get this changed, but had to make a midweek move ...

  • Kona Tiki
    By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/05
The Kona Tiki is a great budget travel destination! It is not a resort but a simple clean inn on the ocean wall with great service. There are not TV's in the rooms for added peace. I always enjoy having a kitchenette because it saves so much money- I have been to the big island several times and the Kona Tiki is by far the greatest budget find.

  • a real bargain for an ocean front room
    By dfb, 05/09/05
This little hotel was an excellent deal and a bargain. My wife and I stayed at the Kona Tiki for 10 days in September 2003 and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We stayed in the third (top) floor room closest to the road. We've debated going back more than once since. Also, it was an excellent starting point for us to explore the entire ...
