The "stench" is from seaweed...not the hotel, and depends on how the wind blows. When I was there Oct 28-Nov 1, there was one day when there was a problem, the rest of the time was great. While the hotel could use some updating, I found the pools to be great, the restrooms./ changing rooms clean and well kept, the restraunt had lots of variety, and I would definetely return!
