The only remodeling that we could see was that the rooms were newly painted. There were very few of the amenities stated. No hair dryer, no clock radio, no fridge, no microwave, and not even 1 hanger in the closet. Very small square pillows but the bed was comfortable.

As I pulled up to the HJ Plaza I could instantly see the changes that have accurred from my last visit. Oh my god, I immediately asked for the hotels manager Mr. Milano. We came late and were tiered; we were desperate to take a shower after a long day. But when we turned the shower on the water was running yellow, it was disgusting. The next day same thing happen. When we spoke with an employee about it, they simply said “well we are doing some work, and we had pipe work that we’re doing”.

Very dirty and dated. The pool was disgusting and unable to be used. The animals lived there! The used condoms in the flower pots were a nice touch as well as the holes in the ceilings. Rooms to rent by the hour.

If i could stay anywhere else i wouldnt!! it is a great hotel and fantastic service! They just got a new GM and she is a wonderful person. The pool was nice and clean and the shuttle service was great no fee.The rooms were nice and clean. The front desk was so friendly. I love it and i am staying there again if i can!

CHEAP TOO!

I got a clean place to stay for only 69 bucks. Free shuttle to airport and Ybor City.
The place was nice, the furniture was old but the room was clean and the ac worked great. We had a great tme in Ybor and then caught our flight. Compared to other places in Tampa this was about half the cost.

Smells bad. The roof was leaking in the lobby. Horrible amenities. No hot tub. Not worth what you pay. I would not stay here again.

I STAY THERE WHEN I'M ON BUSINESS IN TAMPA AND I HAVE TO STAY WHAT A CHANGE !! THEY REALLY HAVE DONE SOME RENOVATIONS AND THE PLACE IS PLEASANT TO STAY AT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE GOING TO TAMPA. GREAT LOCATION AND GREAT STAFF !!!

I know this place is going through some renovations - but they really are trying to do better. They will have 3 brand new floors done in less than 2 weeks - make sure to ask for either the 11th, 12th or the 14th floor. New carpet, new walls, new ceilings, will look great within 2 weeks.
