I loved this place because it has a certain anti snob appeal. It reminds me of a little village where everyone is friendly and says hi, and you can be very ultra casual. The grounds are simple and don't waste water having a lot of non desert plants. The 82 degree pool is large, uncrowded, no chlorine (natural hot spring) and fantastic at ...

Nice but thin walls request an upstairs room!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/12/09
Obviously its a beautiful place. The food is really good - we were surprised at the prices at the Steak House ( a little expensive) but the food was amazing!!!! It was worth every penny. Cafe is good too. Our biggest complaint was hearing our upstairs neighbor's every footstep. We couldnt sleep. Request an upstairs room or a room in the single story section.
I think the ranch has improved since some of the earlier reviews. We stayed in one of the two story units overlooking the golf course. It was roomy , clean and had a nice private balcony. Some of the units closer to the pool were being totally renovated while we were there. We LOVED the spring fed, large swimming pool ( 85 degrees F.) The breakfast ...
Rooms little better better than a cheap motel, in deperate need of updating. The owners don't need to do this because there is nowhere else to go: We visited in August when the Inn was closed 'for the season' Likewise Stovepipe Wells [same owners?] closes its restaurant in the summer. Beyond my comprehension to close hotels and ...

My dog has it better.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/08
My co-worker and I stayed here for a construction job. The room was not real clean and the beds were hard as rock with worn out pillows. It's tough to put in a hard days work with such a poor nights sleep. The trash truck showed up about 5:30am and it sounded like he hit the building!
Have made several trips to Death Valley over the years and have never left without regret. So much to see, so much to offer. Each time we have been there it has been a new adventure if you just open your eyes and take in it's beauty. We have stayed at most all the facilities that they offer at one time or another and all have been top notch in our book. Just sit back and listen to the desert and enjoy. We'll be back, you can bet on it.

This was a neat place. The views are fantastic. Centrally located in Death Valley so easy to go exploring and be able to come back. The food is great and the staff are very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here. The pool is huge and the museum is very interesting.

Expensive But Worth It, Mostly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/25/06
Not much to chose from in this fantastic location so you take what you can get. DOWNSIDES- no cell phone, no internet, expensive. UPSIDES - no cell phone, no internet, lots of activities. From our room overlooking the golf course we could walk to the stables and go horseback riding, than wash the trail dust off with a dip in the pool. Food was ...

Good but I'll try Stovepipe next time.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/06
When we stayed at Furnace Creek Ranch, we wanted a quiet place where, when we opened the door in the early morning, we'd be stepping out into the wide open space. Stovepipe Wells would be better for that - and slightly cheaper - but it was already fully booked.
Bad points: Furnace Creek Ranch is a rather large hotel, the two-storey ...

Can't wait to return
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/05
I've been going to Furnace Creek Ranch each summer for more than 20 years. I really enjoy the quiet seclusion, hot temperatures, and the grandeur views of the desert. I Stay at the Ranch and enjoy a very comfortable Parkside room with a large pool (my favorite spot) a few steps from the door. Small groups of wild mules are sometimes seen ...
