From the funky elevator to the location within walking distance of the ferry, Amtrak, great restaurants and Square events I love this motel. It is away from the noise and crowded city and just a short walk to the water. I have stayed twice and have found the staff extremely courteous and helpful. Also, you can't beat the price.

This hotel is not the Jack London Inn. It is really a Best Western who lost they name. When I got there I realized this wasn't the Inn we stay at every year. The front desk staff was rude and inconsiderate. When we checked in, we were given a dirty room. After one hour they moved us to another room. The noise from a bar woke us at 2 am and dint subside until 3. No manager appeared on the weekend and the staff just shrugged when told of our problems. I will never bring my family here again

When my coworker and I arrived, the people at the front desk said hardly a thing to us and were barely audible themselves. I've read several bad reviews about this place and want to comment. I've stayed here twice now and each time there were no problems.

it was noisy and dirty. the bed was bad. the walls are paper thin. no breakfest here. don't stay here! not great staff. the bathroom had mold all over the walls. the toliet seat was broken. the walls had dents and stains on the walls. it had a broken coffee maker. holes in the blankets. no pen/paper. thin sheets. right from the train tracks.
Victor at the front desk was great. He gave us discount coupons for the Buttercup next door and just had a great presence. No problems with the room. Noise from businesses across the street was a problem, but it's not the fault of the motel.
