There were a few minor problems like the smell of smoke in a our room and sauna-like feel to our room, but it was a nice change to all the other average, modern hotels. The staff were ...
The Monterey Hotel was a pleasant surprise. A historic hotel with antiques and lots of attention to detail. The staff was really very nice and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was more than the usual cont. breakfast and the cookies were awesome that they service in the afternoon.
This was a very pleasant surprise. I'd stay here again anytime--friendly staff, clean hotel. I recommended it to a friend and they loved it too.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/11/05

Be aware that there is no elevator, so you'll have to hoof it up ...
