I can not say enough great things about this hotel and the people that work there. The rooms are huge and always clean. We have stayed in several hotels in NY due to business and leisure but when we found this one it was like home away from home. This is way New York use to be. It is like stepping back in time. Simple, classy and very New York 1950's vintage. The rooms are spacious and the location is great. The doormen and elevator operators set the tone.

we liked the way it overlooked madison ave. the place oozed with class...from the elderly gentleman running the elevator,to the doorbell at at our door. my wife and i recommend it to everyone. we have stayed at all the big ones, from the waldorf in n.y. to the fairmont in sf. aint nothing like the helmsley in n.y.
