I will say that it is a good place and has a lot to offer for short money. But to go out on the front deck is taking a chance that you will never make it back in. The hundreds, and I am not exaggerating, spiders are all over the place. Kill the spiders and it is a decent place.

Terrible place

It was one of our worst experiences in North America! It is low, very low quality place, drafts are throughout the hotel and inside the rooms because doors are very old.

Great Ski Holiday
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/09/09
I came to ski and found the Shalimar on the Gunstock website. What a surprise to get an awesome, huge room with a King size bed, balcony and free wireless for $79.00 a night. Wow, I'll be back for sure. They also sell ski tickets too. Great to get free breakfast before skiing and nice to have the jacuzzi for after skiing.
I don't usually write reviews but I read some of the bad ones and wondered if they were on drugs or something. It's not the Ritz or the Plaza. It's a family owned resort. Something you don't see much anymore. There shoud be more like it and I cna't wait to come back with my family. I loved it. I was here on business and ended up ...

Great Family Fun- Very Clean- Great Pool
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/09
We loved the Shalimar Resort- We came for Mass. February vacation with our kids. We bought discount Gunstock ski tickets at the desk, had a fabulous meal and our kids sang karaoke in the pub. The kids loved the large game room. The rooms are BEAUTIFUL, VERY CLEAN and completely renovated. We rented online and the rates are cheaper. A great value. We will absolutely come back again!
This past summer we had a very bad experience with the $150 a night room. It was very dirty and we felt gross the whole time there. Well we got a letter from the owner Mary and she invited us back for another stay on the house and we thank her for that. When we arrived that afternoon we were greeted very nicely and were told that the room that they ...

didn't like much about this place the pool had more patches than i don't know what, they advertise a restaraunt and there is none, the beds are like sleeping on a piece of slate, the place is dirty looking and infested with spiders the only thing i liked about it was leaving the hotel !!!

Wouldn't choose Shalimar for next visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/08
For the price paid (150.00 a night) was too steep for the quality of the rooms. The room and bathroom did not have a clean look to it. The bed was hard as a rock. The only positive reason to stay there would be if you had a boat it is convenient across the street to put it in the lake. I would highly recommend checking into some other hotels before choosing the Shalimar.
Great place to stay a little expensive at race weekend for what you get. Food very good and priced right but drinks are terribly expensive.

Looks can be deceiving!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/08
My boyfriend and I drove by and noticed the enormous indoor pool and decided to give it a try. I was apprehensive at first because it does look dated.
What a gem! Admittedly, a bit outdated but very clean and the staff was great! The older gentleman at the front desk kept us laughing every time we walked by! Yes, the (indoor) pool and hot ...
