The Senate Luxury Suites is a beautiful hotel. The service is exellent, even though they don't have room service. I love staying here

The night time desk clerk seemed easily cofussed by simple questions. The rooms were larger than I was expecting for the price. Definately somewhere I would go for a romantic getaway.

My wife and I went here to get away for a day or so, the service was great, rooms excellent, and just an overall peacefull and relaxing place to go.

I love historic places. There is, however, a difference between historic and old. This place was not well-maintained. Hunks of paint falling off the walls, old (not antique) furnishings, no iron in the room, etc. The location feels a little sketchy for single, female travelers. I would recommend trying a B&B or sticking with typical chain hotels in Topeka. The Senate has a lot of potential...too bad they are not living up to it.

Close to the Capital - it is nice to have the option of your own kitchen - very very quiet - the balcony I had was a great place to relax and read. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating.
