I had a reservation for the Blue Dory on 10/17/09. Unfortunately, the ferry was cancelled due to inclement weather and I had to postpone my stay. It took two phone calls and an e-mail for me to actually speak to someone who could provide the info I needed to re-book. When I finally got a confirmation a week later, I was charged again for my ...

change of mind

I have been a regular visitor for years; this year, Tamara, the innkeeper-in-training, overcharged me and wouldn't acknowledge her error. Avonlea and its staff are great, but poor customer relations with "management" are not worth the expense. I'm going elsewhere now.
We found the Blue Dory to be over priced. We had a room on the first floor that was noisy and run down. The wallpaper was peeling and the room was not cleaned daily. The breakfast room was in the basement which was well decorated but the muffins and rolls were burnt and not at all appetizing. The afternoon wine and cookies were a joke. Not ...
Last year we stayed at the Avonlea which is owned by the same owners. It is really lovely and located right on the beach! But since we wanted to bring our dog this year and Avonlea does not allow them, we booked the Tea House a cottage at the Blue Dory. It was decorated in the same style and had a microwave and small refrig and small porch to sit ...

Thank you for a wonderful stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/18/08
This was my sixth experience in staying at your Blue Dory Inn and I have to say that I am now huge fan! Your Bed & Breakfast was just fabulous. The room was spacious and very clean and had a wonderful view of the ocean. In the room this time I had a small balcony that was very pleasant. I stayed for 5 nights and ate in the Blue Dory Inn kitchen ...

It was Beautiful! We stayed in 'Moonstone' which was a suite on ...

Sign of the Dove
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/07
We stayed in a renovated house on the pond at Sign of the Dove - a five minute walk from the main waterfront streets. We had a clean and modern King room, quite bare but with a soft sofa chair, bedside tables, flat screen tv (DirectTV) and closet. We had a view of the pond, and a jacuzzi spa tub, which we enjoyed immensely, when my electrician ...

we love block island
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/09/07
I found the Blue Dory on the internet & took advantage of the June special stay two nights and the third is free. We loved the Inn. The location was ideal. We did not take advantage of the breakfast or wine and cookies in the afternoon. Breakfast was in the basement and too dark when there are so many other options available within walking. ...

let's get real!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/05/06
Block Island, is beautiful. Most lodging is shabby with small rooms. Like all others, Blue Dory Inn, is liberal with the words spacious, antiques and ocean view, but it is enjoyable if you know the quality and prices of the other inns and hotels. Centrally located, so you'll hear road and beach traffic. The cookies and breakfast aren't ...
