- i was preggers at the time (1st trimester & sick as a dog) - and the staff were SO incredibly accomodating.....the location is perfect - close enought to the city to go everday and right in the quaintest little town of Takapuna with little restaraunts, shops & bars.....a gorgeous beach within walking ...

i booked the spencer on byron expecting a 4.5 star hotel. that is NOT what i found! that's not to say it isn't a good value for the money, but if you are expecting a 4.5 star hotel (at least if you come from the u.s.) you will be SHOCKED! service is minimal, food trays sit outside rooms all day, there is no bellman to help with bags, no valet to park your car and beds that are anything but luxurious.
