The manager had a half pound of fudge waiting for us. We got to know the staff. Most are college students and have special work permits for the summer. My wife got to know Ann, from Romania, and Oxana from Moldova. The hotel faces Lake Huron. The breakfast was the best. It was hot, well prepared, and everything so clean. This was the best hotel stay we have ever had. They even did our personal laundry!
I booked a rewards stay the night before the Labor Day walk accross the Mackinaw Bridge with the Governer. This Hampton was charging $298 for rooms on this night, as were most of the hotels in town. When I arrived I was told that they had sold my room even though I had a confirmation number. They made no efforts to find another room in town, ...
Watch out, check your bill twice ! My visa got charged 85 $ and 113 $ for one night and one room ,one person. I was told and signed for 69$ room. Clerk was not friendly and I got no info about the hotel amenites.
I will never return here and will not recommend this place to a friend.
I think the most surprising thing about the Hampton Inn was the great staff. From the outside it looks just like an average hotel but the service really blew us away. They had a nice savings book for us when we checked in, water and snacks in the room and they answered all of our questions. They even recommended a really nice pizza place for ...
My wife and I had a great stay at the Hampton Inn while we visited Mackinaw for our anniversary. The staff had an anniversary card in the room when we arrived and also some great ideas for dinner. In the morning we walked right across the street to take the ferry to the island. The rooms were clean and well appointed. They also have wireless Internet in the rooms which was nice for my wife who always has her computer. Kudos to the staff!
Reservation was for a clean, smoke free room and an open indoor swimming pool. When we arrived the pool was closed and the room was filled with the aroma of stale cigar or cigarette usage. Requesting a switch to another toom fell on deaf ears and request for a refung did also. Security door at rear of building was left open, swinging in the wind. I will not stay at this particular facility again.
We usually like to find Hampton Inn Hotels when we travel, but this one the the worst one we've ever been in. The bathroom was not clean, and the room was small, the air conditioning didn't work well, and the only bed size was either king, (they didn't have a king room available for us) or 2 full size beds, no queen beds. We will not return to this hotel.
This hotel has an excellent location - perfect for my family and myself - right in the heart of town and directly across from the ferries over to Mackinac Island. Couldn't be better. Rooms were nice and clean and the staff was just incredibly friendly. We would definitely go back again.
