Upon entering our smoking room (we reserved a non smoking room) we opened the window and noticed there wasn't a lock on the window. Right outside the window is full access to a fire escape w/stairs going up and down. Completely unacceptable! Our friends had another room, which didn't have the fire escape access from their window.

Inexpensive off season rate and good location (West midtown) make this a very good value. Not a lot of extras. Small renovated older building. Staff friendly. Water pressure under par. The rate goes up significantly between Thanksgiving and Chhristmas, like all of Midtown.
