Having lived in Portland many years ago, I was hesitant to stay in "that" part of town, especially since I was travelling alone. It is perfectly safe at night to walk the streets, but might be a little dangerous at dark.

This inn is clean and comfortable and for the price.

Walking into this hotel is like stepping back in time, the decor and ambience makes one feel as if the hansome cab is waiting outside. The rooms were decorated to match the period and service was quietly provided.
the only drawback is that there was no elevator and the stairs were very steep and narrow, also parking was at a premium but if you can arrive early and get a room on the ground floor then you stay could be really wonderful

A very classy place close to the action in Portland. Room was very clean and well decorated. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would absoluteley stay here again. Winter room rates are a bargin!

The room was very comfortable.The amenities were nice.The only problem was that our room was just off the lobby at street level and there was noise rather late at night and again during the early morning when breakfast was set up.Would stay again.

We always enjoy our stay, cozy comfortable rooms.

The owners of the St.John Inn have done a great job at bringing the old "Westfield",if i may,back to life,and it brings vitality back to the West End.Hats off folks.
