We just got back from our holiday in New York and it was ruined by staying in the Hayden Hotel. Not only did we see 2 mice in one evening but there are boxes near the beds to catch cockroaches! I stayed there just for one night, it was a pure horror trip. All night long it was extremely loud, there was no chance of getting some sleep. The room itself was dark and very dirty. NEVER AGAIN!!

OK - this place is a two star hotel that comes by it's 2 stars honestly. No pay phone (& calls from room are pricey), not so much as a vending machine or an ice maker, let alone a coffee pot in your room. And our room was so small, I had to look both ways before stretching (rimshot!).

The cheapest rooms you have to share a bathroom, which is not as bad as it seems because when I was there they were renovating the rented floors which is good but fresh paint smell was not appreciated. (bottom floors it looked like people lived there)
