Loved it....Fairly inexpensive.... for all the extra that you get. The food was great and the service was great. We had a wonderful time. The excursion sign up was qiuck and easy. We didn't feel pressured to buy or do anything that we didn't want to do. I recommend white water rafting.... AMAZING!!! You can't go home without the experience.2 of 2 Yahoo! Nice ResortMy husband and I just came back from the Occidental Grand Papagayo. We had a very nice time. The staff was friendly; knew names or at least faces by day two of our stay. The food was above expectations. The pool is loud with music and volleyball, but the beach is quiet and relaxing with a lot of shade.

Pura Vida !!!!!!!!!Wow !!! what a great place. The accomodations were very nice and the rooms were great! If your hanging out in the room at a place like this you are wasting your money. Food in the buffet and Pool snack bar was the best. Maybe a little on the bland side but us Texans like our food spicy!!!

Lovely Place, great memoriesThe place is located 25min from Liberia airport. Rooms are clean a/c working , staff very nice willing to help you with everything. The drinks were very good. Food wide selection but you must make resevations for the restaurants Italien and Oriental restaurants early in the morning. But buffet is good if you want to skip that.

Beware of Johnny D.!!!Johnny D. operates tours from the beach of Occidental Grand Papagayo. He is a dishonest man and cheated us out of money on a tour. You will know him by his maimed left arm. The company that he works for is FunSeaLand--stay away from this guy. Other than Johnny D., the people are friendly and honest. The hotel is wonderful!! Great food and ...8 of 8 Yahoo! Expected MoreThis is by NO means a five star resort. We just returned from our honeymoon and had a great time but I would not return to this hotel.
Over all its a nice place but the little details in service and quality are COMPLETELY missed.

Room not made before 5:00 pm any day
Warm water in shower hit or miss

Excellent ValueJust returned from the Occidental and I have to say that I was very impressed. We went there in a group of 28 for my wedding and I was a little nervous as I read a few luke warm reviews. An Unforgettable ExperienceElegant,nicely decorated throughout the whole hotel. Excellent food every day. Lots to choose from, Italian, Japanese, plus buffet etc. Staff very pleasant and courteous. Fabulous PlaceThere was nothing too dislike about the Grand Papagayo. Not child friendlyThe grounds are beautiful. Food was great. However, they are not child friendly. We took our family, which included five adults and three children. There were no activities for children, and the dining room staff was unwilling to push two table together to accommodate our family, until we complained to management.
