Great location, horrible hotelvery small room, with very dated and grossly stained furniture. looks like this hotel has not had a room re-model in 30 years or so would be my guess. Can't beat location though, and beds were fine. Overall, I wouldn't go back, even with the "40% discount" not much of a bang for the buck. If I paid the full price I would have ...SHOW FULL REVIEW

Surprisingly poorFirst, here's what we liked:
1) Location. It is very close to Time Square, Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue shopping, etc.
2) The size of the rooms are really nice given other Manhattan options.
3) The bathroom was generally nice, though it could have used a railing for entering and exiting the jacuzzi tub.

Is Location Everything?We chose this place because of the location which IS fabulous and because I thought it would be way nicer than it was for the money. I thought it very expensive compared to others like it plus the amenities were very lacking. I liked the fact that it had a kitchen but it was too small to do anything but make coffee. Flatotel-Great location and valueVisited the Flatotel for business this past December and Surprisingly (being used to Sheraton and Hilton located) I found this hotel to be not just a bargain but a revelation. Great staff and Great locationMy friend and I stayed for only one night at the Flatotel and I thought for the price I was paying I was going to get a really small room. But surprisingly the room was a fair size and had a great bathroom. Nice location, poor securityI stayed at the Flatotel for a long weekend visit to NYC at the beginning of June. We arrived Saturday morning, June 9th and planned on leaving our luggage with the front desk until we could check in later in the day, however the person at the front desk said he would check and see if a room was available for us to check in early. Good reliable midtown hotelI've stayed here 5 times in the past year and a half and I am generally pleased with the quality of the accommodations. The front desk staff is relatively snooty and unhelpful but once you get past them, the quality of the hotel and rooms is quite good.

Will stay at Flatotel again!The Flatotel was a great place to stay.
Staff were helpful and pleasant to deal with. Room was extremely large, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was nice size and very modern.
Location of hotel is very central for most activities. Short distance from Rockefeller Center, Times Square and many great restaurants. Very safe and quiet area.
