I stayed at the Wolcott in mid-October and the lack of heat was a major disadvantage of our visit to NYC. After spending all day walking the streets touristing it was disappointing to return to a cold hotel room.
Then taking a shower was an adventure, as the cold water would cut out mid-way through, making bathing a scalding ...
