made reservations in dec 04,renovations to be done end of march, four buildings in various stages of construction in the middle of may, maybe the staff was tired of complaints, but for whatever reasons, they where rude.with so many nice places to stay, why put up with that.
The title says it all! If you're looking for a place to get away and relax - The Islander on the Beach is the best. I've stayed there 3 times and have found it to be the most peaceful place to kick back and relax of any place I've been. It's not luxury by any means - but well-worth the price.
Currently the hotel IS UNDER RENOVATION. It's being turned into condos. Our room had already been converted, and was gorgeous. Well furnished, mini kitchen, good tv reception. The staff was very helpful when called upon. The hotel restaurant is currently closed, as is the main lobby. The beach is closed to swimming, but the pool is very ...

What a great honeymoon spot. We loved the Islander because of the beach location and the privacy. We had the best view of the ocean and of the beautifuly maintained grounds. We also liked having the pool and bar so close to our rooms and the beach. Everything was so beautiful and relaxing, we can't wait to come visit again!

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/17/04
After reading the other reviews - the one from San Jose must have posted their comments about a different hotel. I have stayed at the Islander twice and hope to return again in January.
The staff goes WAY out of their way to provide for their guests. I will even take them souvineers from TX when I return. The staff treated me (and others) as ...
The carprt is so old and smelly. The furniture old too.The shower dirty and trashy. I think it was one of the most lousest place at the kauai. My advise if you want to safe money rent a condo this way you safe on food mach more than you would safe on hotel like this one

Great Location!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/04
Centrally located, 40 minutes from either side of the Island. I would definately go back. Water is ruff to snorkel, but go to Tunnels Beach. Awesome fish there!
My wife and I have made 3 trips to Kauai, and have stayed at the Islander all 3 times. It has such a wonderful laid back and restful atmosphere. The staff is great, and the amenities are just right. You dont pay for a lot of things you dont use, and everything you need is there. When we can afford to return to Hawaii, we will go back to the Islander.

David is right!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/04
Who wants to go to Kauai and hang out at the pool? If so, this isn`t the island for you. David is sooooo right. I was married on Kauai and you can see the room that we stayed, in the picture. First floor- right in front. The rooms were clean and large. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make this a special trip. We loved the ...
