Service is absolutely to die for. Your every need is taken care of way beyond what you expected. The rooms are clean and comfortable beyond compare.

The only complaint is the rumbling of trucks going by as it is on a main road right on the river-front. But this was actually not an issue as the trucks didn't travel at night.

The food ...

I really enjoyed the stay in the hotel for its personal touch - "welcome back to our hotel, Mr. Name".
The rooms are renovated with lots of taste to what I imagine to be colonial style, the bed is excellent.
The cooking is also excellent, my favourite were carpaccio rolls.

Unfortunately, the hotel's restaurants and bar are not ...

Strand is a very beautiful hotel! I stayed there in December 2004. The service is very quick and they are so polite! It is very clean. I noticed every morning as I went downstairs for breakfast, there are always cleaning trolleys in the hallways! It has a good location! Close to the MRT station and across the street has KOPITIAM which comes in ...

there are only 32 rooms in this beautifully refurbished british colonial era hotel. there is an air of exclusivity that other hotels do not offer. the service is gracious, the location central, and the ambiance serene.

the hotel reminds us of the raffles hotel in singapore and the oriental in bangkok.

although the cost is rather steep compared to the summit parkview or the traders hotel, the strand caters to an exclusive clientele.
