Hardly a 5 star experienceService is supposed to be transparent, not non-existent. Unfortunately, my experience at the Intercontinental Hotel de Ville in Rome presented me with non-existent service. Amazing!!! that is even an understatementFirst off, this hotel is absolutely beautiful and located near the Spanish Steps. For those of us Americans who speak only English, all of the employees speak wonderful English and that makes it easy to have no language barriers.

Good but DisappointingMy expectation from the name "Intercontinental" brand were much more than what i saw. But then this is the case with almost all Hotels in Rome. Probably because i live in Dubai where standards are very high especially within Hospitality sector. 5 Star in Rome is maintained like a 3 star hotel in Dubai.

Good Location, but pricey.The location of this hotel is superb. Practically on top of the spanish steps (a Metro station is less than a minute by walking). However, I find it expensive for the room size and the sights were not that great.

Great hotel in a great locationWe stayed here April 2008. Very nice hotel and a great location (especially if you like to shop because you are literally right on top of the high-end shopping area)! Also very close to the Metro station. As others have commented - it is located at the top of the Spanish Steps so if you are arriving from Metro you will have to climb 132 steps. ...7 of 10 Yahoo! Wonderful Experience!!Everything was perfet even from a less than perfect start.
We arrived approximately 10 AM to be informaed (as usual) that our room was not ready and we would have to wait. We were extended every courtesy, our luggae was stored, courtesy drinks and snacks were provided on the patio restaurant, regular updates were provided regarding our room. ...4 of 5 Yahoo! Wonderful LocationThe hotel is located almost directly on top of the Spanish Steps. The is a subway stop elevator is located at the top for those who don't want to walk the stairs.
It was very easy to get around the City; we were able to walk or ride the subway to get wherever we needed. The Trevi fountain & Pantheon were only a few minutes walk.
