Be sure you get updated reviews, hopefully in the year that you visit. Most of these reviews are old and we were nervous of staying there. Upon our arrival we were greeted with friendly staff and they offered to take our luggage to our room (for a tip, of course). We were very impressed with the marble floors and the architecture of the building. ...
The website was deceiving and apparently photos not changed in long time as we were specifically looking for an outdoor pool....when we got there, figured out the nice outdoor landscaping used to be the pool and now the pool is indoor and very public to everyone inside the hotel....
Also, the air-conditioning unit was horridably loud and never ...

I had a wonderful stay at the Doubletree Charlottesville. The Hotel is being renovated, but I didnt mind. It looks wonderful! The staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. The cookies are wonderful as well as the new menu the restaurant has. I will always stay at the Doubletree Charlottesville.

Not worth money or words

The reason my title is this. The hotel is too old and is in need of some serious renovation work. the work being done now is sub par. The staff unit is in need of some new personell with a freindly demeanor. The room has some many patches, color different on the wall. Beside the ceiling. It has a mold and musty odor to it. In my opion is they just want your money and think cookies will solve the problems.

BUGS IN MY ROOM!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/07
I stayed at the Charlottesville Doubletree Hotel in July/2007. Not convenient location, unless you wish to go to Walmart or Sam's or purchase a car. These facilities are in the immediate area of the hotel. Another yet very important complaint is I had bugs in my room. I had noticed a black bug crawling on my son's bed and remnants of a ...
This hotel is not worth the money. This hotel is very outdated and the price for room isn't worth $100. The rooms were equal or lesser to a Holiday Inn. It took us 20 mins to get a drink from the bar and we couldn't get food because the bar tender was the waiter, hostess, and cook????? If you don't mind lots of kids running around ...
I didn't stay at the DoubleTree as a guest, but I did have a conference there. Service-wise, they were very accommodating and met our needs well, however, the facility itself needs updating, and the conference rooms on the lower level are not very welcoming at all. Dark hallways and hot rooms were just not a good environment for my guests.
There were ants all over the toilet and they were big and mean looking. I had to call the front desk 4 times before they sent someone to spray the ants. It was a good thing they had a bathroom in the lobby. Other than that, the place was ok. I would recommend another hotel if in Charlottesville.

Troubletree
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/10/05
This is a very tired hotel needing a complete overhaul. Had reservations for 8-9 Aug, 2005. Ditto to the other reviewer who commented about the cable being out and the staff not comping a movie. Went to our non-smoking room -- it reeked! The furniture there and in our next room seemed to have been acquired from a frat house. I so wanted to ...

Not impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/05
I travel a lot for business so I frequent many hotels. The room quality was decent, however not as clean as it should be. I found hairs on the bed that weren't mine and the room felt damp. The cable was out for 3 days due to a storm and they would not even comp a movie. Not very impressd!
