I would recommend the Whitten to everyone. There are 2 Whittens here tho. I stayed at the one at exit 288. The rooms are clean and spacious, the front desk staff very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was everything you could want. They have 3 different cold cereals, oatmeal, pancakes, belgian waffles, 2 juices, 2 milks, coffee, biscuits ...

Rare customer service!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/08
Folks at the front desk are always friendly and helpful. I got into a situation and needed help, I went to front desk and explained it to them...they said "no problem" and indeed problem was solved. I can never express enough thanks to them. Hard to find customer service like that anywhere. Kudos to the Whitten Inn.
I stayed at this MOTEL based on other reviews. I found it to be rather tired looking, and in need of more than paint. The front desk staff was disinterested, and I never saw anyone smile. The breakfast was a joke. a few stale donuts and juice at a self serve counter, and little more. The "breakfast" ends early, and we missed it the first ...

Most awsome service ever!
By VanessaR, 09/25/06
Almost three years ago I was driving thru town and came accross this hotel. I will never forget the hospitality of the staff, Everytime I think of Texas, I remember how wonderful and helpful Mary and Ralph were. I would go out of my way to stay there anytime.

A little dissapointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/06
We thought it would be a lot better than it was. The staff was nice enough, the beds were comfortable, it was quiet, the room was well equipped, the breakfast ok but I have stayed at nicer hotels for the price.

Been there twice, will go again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/06
It's popular enough to be booked up when events come to town.
We've stayed there twice over the past few years, and each time it was easy to check in and out. Only problem we had was when a group of loud teenagers took over the pool area late at night and the hotel was unwilling to chase 'em off or shut 'em up.
Price is competitive, and the place seems better than some chain hotels around there.

GREAT SERVICE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/06
We stayed at the Whitten May 18-21 during the Div.ll baseball tournament held at Abilene Christian University. We drove straight from Alabama to Abilene (13 hours!) and arrived exhausted. The staff could not have been more accomodating. They quickly gave us our room, offered us breakfast and with a big smile welcomed us to Texas. The rooms were ...

Best value in Abilene
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/05
My entire extended family had to stay in Abilene at various hotels for a funeral. My immediate family stayed at the Whitten and compared to my cousins we had the best experience. It was clean, the people were nice, the location was good, and it was very reasonably priced.

I thought the service was excellent. The staff was friendly and very accommadating. The price was right. The outdoor swimming pool was a good size and in a courtyard setting.

Best in the West (Texas)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/04/05
During a time of illness for my mother, staff went way out their way to accomodate us, even when we arrived very late (2 a.m.) and couldn't have been nicer. We will be returning and stay only at the Whitten. No Better Accomodations and people anywhere. Thank you for everything
