THE only place to stay in HelenI have been staying at the Helendorf all my life. I have never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly, and the location is perfect. They have 5 rooms that are pet-friendly so it is great to be able to take my 80 pound lab/collie mix with me. The rooms and the hotel are all decorated in the Alpine feel. Second Time AroundThis was our second time there, but we had other family members (4 adults and 2 kids) along who stayed in separate rooms who hadn't stayed there before. Enjoyed our stay - 3 years in a rowThe location of the hotel is terrific - within very short walking distance to the heart of the town and all of the restaurants. We stayed in the patio area overlooking the river and loved it. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Our room has always been clean and the appliances work fine for us. Never again!!!We are a military couple who went to Helen and wanted to be on the river. We chose the Helendorf for its location and the fact that the owner advertises that he is retired military. THE HELENDORF JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER!My family has stayed at "The Helendorf" non-stop since the mid- 70's. All any of us can say is WOW! VERY Relaxing, Enjoyable StayFrom first-hand experience in staying at The Helendorf Inn before, I can assure you a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay. The riverfront rooms are the main attraction here and are wonderful for taking it easy. There's virtually no noise since the hotel is located at the start of the strip. People PLEASE BEWARE!!I stayed at The Helendorf River Inn and was mad VERY sick! We stayed in one of the rooms (204) with a fireplace and after burning a fire for several hours my husband and I went to bed. I woke up at 2:30 A.M. Repeat businessNot to restate what has been said before, but yes it needs a face lift - but you can't beat the location. The Helendorf is in walking distance to everything. You can walk to the small night club across the road and not worry about driving after having a few cold ones. Great Hotel - Perfect for our Retreat!We took a group of 37 from Charlotte, NC to the Helendorf motel and loved it! The staff was great, the rooms were clean, and the location was perfect. We will definitely go back to this charming place and stay at the Helendorf.
