The internet picture was taken at night, that should have been the first clue. In our "oceanside room" we needed binoculars to se the ocean. Thank goodness we were on the second floor because the people on the first floor "oceanside room" only had a view of the sand dune. Forget relaxing on your oceanside deck because your scant ...
From the Basil Fawlty-ish day manager Richard to the filthy lobby, this place was a complete loser. Hotels on the Georgia coast can be a little shopworn but this was putrid. It's also the last hotel before the swamp and has no restaurant or even gift shop, so it's a couple of miles into town for a decent meal or human companionship. I ...

Enjoyed the stay but.....................
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/08
I enjoyed the atmosphere, everyone was friendly, nice staff however the room was very outdated and the place was infested with "lovebugs". I would like to try a different hotel the next go round. Not too pleased. The continental breakfast was nice but didn't appreciate the signs to not take away any food. What's the point ?? I guess taking the breakfast back to your room is out of the question huh ??

Wil not stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/08
The room was nice but small for the money. We had to get an island side room for one night and inquired about an oceanside room the following night, we were told the room would be double the amount we paid for the first night. This was during the middle of the week. Seems like a bit of a rip off to us.
I just returned from Jekly Island & I will go back. I am in a wheelchair & had the accessible suite & it was awesome. The hotel is VERY CLEAN & the Staff is AWESOME!! My only complaint is that the bed was very hard. The island is so beautiful. If you are looking for tranquility this is the place!!

I wouldn't stay anyplace else. I do hope they stay around for a long time to come. The Staff is great, kind, helpful. I tell all my friends this is the only place to stay on Island. I have been coming every year and started when it was first built. Can't wait till my next vacation. I like the oceanside the best. The value is great for the ...
I stayed here at the end of June 2007. It is a nice hotel with reasonable rates. My room was very clean and comfortable. It was ocean front ground floor. Although I could not see the ocean, I could here it. There are 2 nice pools. The beach is just a very short walk from the rooms. The Continental Breakfast was good. You can cook your own ...

things that should be checked

I just returned from a trip to Jekyll Island and stayed 4 days at your hotel. There were five of us. The rooms were not as clean as they should have been. There was trash behind the dresser not that we were looking for trash we had to get to the plug. The maid service left a lot to be desired. We had to ask for fresh coffee filters.I know it ...

Oh how I wish I had paid attention to the review about the beds being hard. This was so true. If the two things that matter to you in a hotel are a good bed and a good shower, this hotel has good showers. The bed was really hard. I guess if you like a firm bed you'll do ok, if you like sleeping on a board with a mattress pad over it.
I like this hotel because the ocean view is beautiful. At night the view is like looking at a post card. The area was very clean and quite and I would stay every week if I could.
