I visited Grenelefe about 14 yrs ago and was looking forward to returning for some golf. First - I'm not sure the clubhouse is safe to walkthrough - it's clearly been falling apart for years. The pro-shop is empty and the staff we met there was completely incompetent. Clearly not able to handle regular tee times much less a shot gun ...
Here from the northeast US to teach school to underprivileged Title One students in neighboring Davenport, the Polk County School System recommended Grenelefe to us as a great residential condo occupancy for elementary education teachers. We found out why the price was right when we went to the golf clubhouse: IT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF THE ...
We really had a great time! We rented from private owners because "the resort" no longer rents short term in preperation for the pending sale to Feltrim. The pools are great, the courses are great, and the unit we got was very clean and the beds were very comfy. For the money, you can not beat this place. The clubhouse has not been ...

Golf here, don't stay here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/08
The golf course is great - that's it. I think they stopped short term stays. I am supprised it is still listed. Do not stay at a resort owned condo - they are very bad (if you can find one). If you want to stay in Grenelefe, find a private condo owner that does short term rentals. It is a nice area. Quiet and friendly. But the resort buildings are all junk.
The West course that is so advertized is not in use!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Westgate management has not "bothered" to restore the course. They run this property as a poor persons park.

Don't believe the good reviews...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/07
They are written by Grenelefe property owners that are desperate. This formerly outstanding resort has been allowed to fall into quite literally a ruin. If you don't believe me, visit the old Grenelefe West golf course and facilities. If that isn't a modern ruin, I don't know what is. And what a shame -- the old West Course was a ...

What Happened???
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/05/06
This was my third trip to Grenelefe. First was 6 years ago. It was perfect. Second was 3 years ago. Still very good. This time I called the Vice President of Westgate resorts to complain after being told there was no manager on duty on a holiday weekend (july 4th). Our room was filthy and the beds were not quality enough for a stay at the ...

Grenelefe aging but good value
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/26/06
Golf and accomodations were great. Food was excellent but pricey. Altogether great value at the time we visited. Property went into receivership shortly after - not related to our visit - and has new owners. We played but did not stay in 2004 and the impression was very good.

Things have changed at Grenelefe
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/31/06
We are happy to say that Grenelefe is emerging from the doldrums of being hurt by three hurricanes. We just spent 6 days golfing. Great rates. The golf courses have never been in better shape. We understand the property is under contract to be sold to a major investor with big plans for Grenelefe This place is a hidden jewel. We have been there almost every year over the past 14 years. Missed the hurricanes. We will certainly be back.
