The food at the Twist is excellent, very unique, and worth coming back for. I stay there on business but if I lived in the area I'd go there to dine. They have a shrimp appetizer that is wonderful!
I enjoy listening to the piano while dining and even just sitting and reading.
The rooms are a little small but very quaint. Try for an ...

Scary, but nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/07
This hotel is right out of old style Europe. It is located between China Town and the Ghetto. I would walk there alone at night. There were many loiterers outside that was kinda freaky. The beds were VERY comfortable, and the rooms were clean. The resteraunt was under construction when I was there.

I liked the reception I received when I came into the Inn, also, rooms are small but clean, I was a little confused about the sink in the livingroom area, however, when I asked why, they said it was a european custom.
I would definetly stay there again!

Nice, quiet hotel. Right accross from the Oakland Convention Center. They offer a continental breakfast (Danish, Muffins, cofee, orange juice, oatmeal, milk..) excellent variety.

Good for business
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/06
It's quiet, clean, and a good size (something like 45 rooms). The neighborhood is not good, but the hotel itself has good security and friendly staff. There's not much choice in downtown Oakland; this is probably my favorite there. A short walk to city center, courthouses, Starbucks, Ratto's delicatessan, and a few pretty nice restaurants.

The location of this hotel is a bit scary, parking is the pits, and the air conditioning in our room blew out lukewarm air.
On a positive note, the room was clean (but small), the beds were very comfortable, and the furnishings were nice.
